Trip Introduction
Before the weather turned cold in 2008, we decided to make a trip southwest of Des Moines to visit some of the historic sites in Madison County, Iowa. There are historic covered bridges, only a few still standing, as well as a memorial to the original settlers of the area near Winterset.
